Pitcher Matt Palmer, left, and Infielder Tim Hutting sign for fans during the rain delay. While rain lasted only a short while the field needed a lot of work. This scene is what draws me to minor league baseball; the easy access of fan to player. Palmer went in to pitch once the field was recovered and picked up the save.

Anyway I was lucky to get out to this game (thanks honey!). I wasn't planning on it and got there in the second inning (free ticket from someone on the way in; gotta love that!). A.J. went deep, Athas picked up three hits and Alfonzo bat came alive. Valdez pitched great but seemed to run out of steam in the fifth. He hadn't pitched in over a week. The heavens open up quickier than the tarp crew could get out and really soaked the field. Sun was back out before you knew it. Sparse crowd pumped up by a cap giveaway. Kids seemed to get a lot of autos however and that's great. Take care of the kids so they bug Mom and Dad to take them back to the park!
